Eltek produces a large number of its high-volume products in Asia.
These products are either shipped directly to customers or transported
via regional and local warehouses as well as assembly sites.
During the short lifecycle of the product, packaging plays a vital role.
It takes on an independent significance beyond its original purpose.
In the packaging design process, we focused on how to enhance
end-to-end efficiency (covering manufacturing, transportation,
warehousing and handling) through optimized packaging solutions.
Taking a practical project as an example, by reducing packaging volume
and weight while optimizing stacking efficiency on European-standard
pallets and containers, we ultimately achieved a 40% reduction in
transportation costs - not to mention the environmental benefits generated
simultaneously.
We’re making a specific change to the packaging that
protects our products. Instead of using plastic materials like polystyrene and
polyethylene for cushioning, we’re switching to corrugated cardboard.
The big advantage is that cardboard can break down naturally in the environment—
it decomposes completely and turns back into natural materials.
Unlike plastic, even “biodegradable” plastic only breaks into tiny pieces called microplastics,
which don’t fully disappear and stay in the environment.
